Hiram Monserrate apparently hasn't bought himself a clue.
Those perks that he enjoyed as a senator do not carry over, especially when one has been removed from that august body like a cancerous tumor. Well...that's what happens when you line your own pockets, and screw New York to the tune of $109,000.
Monserrate "directed" $300,000 to a non-profit titled the Latino Initiative for Better Resources and Empowerment, Inc. The truth is that most of those funds went to pay for extravagances from his campaign.

I read a very disturbing article this morning in Metro, one of the free dailies offered to New Yorkers. The article in question pertains to a marketing campaign by the Corn Refiners Association, in which they wish to rebrand high fructose corn syrup into "corn sugar". I'm going to include two quotes, one by the president of the CRA, and the second from a recent advertisement, not attributed to any individual, but would ostensibly be from the CRA.

After the New York State Senate’s failure last year to pass the same sex marriage bill Marriage Equality New York and other LGBT groups vowed to field candidates sympathetic to the measure. The gay community had its first opportunity with a special election in Queens, New York recently for the seat held by disgraced Senator Hiram Monserrate, a vocal opponent of same sex marriage. MENY supported Jose Peralta who handily won the race against Monserrate and a Republican running up huge numbers.
