Governor Cuomo and Senate Republicans Play ‘Let’s Pretend’ on Pension Deal

Does anybody read the NYS Constitution anymore? Last week in the dead of night, the NYS Legislature addressed a number of bills on Assembly and Senate redistricting, a DNA database, casino gambling, performance evaluations for educators, the establishment of the independent redistricting commission, and pension reform. All but one was passed with a simple majority of 36 votes. There is, however, a problem the governor, Senate Republicans, and New York’s media insist upon ignoring: there was no quorum for the Tier VI pension vote.

Governor Cuomo is riding high.

Wow!

Normally this time of year with the budget and all, NY Governors are running for cover, but not Cuomo.

The latest Siena College Poll out Monday morning shows Cuomo with the highest approval rating ever for a governor during six years of the college’s statewide polling. A sky high 77 percent of New York voters, despite the problems of the economy and the possibility that 10,000 state workers may be laid off, feels Cuomo is headed in the right direction. That’s not all.

When it comes to spending money, Cuomo compares Albany leaders to his daughters

One big difference between Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his predecessor David Paterson boils down to one simply premise.

The legislature is afraid of Cuomo, and sadly they never respected Paterson. (many of Paterson’s failures were self-inflicted, some were not)
