Quiet and Methodical: The Bill Thompson Campaign for NYC Mayor

For weeks here in the New York City area folks have asked me, what is Bill Thompson doing?

Tech Time (Keep It Down In There); Save LICH!

I've intimated that I'm a tech guy - I fixed someone's corrupted PowerPoint installation, and posted the fix online - that can be found at http://file-repair.blogspot.com/2012/12/how-to-fix-powerpoint-error-message.html

I get a freeware newsletter, and every once in a while, I'll see what's being offered. This looks to be very useful:

Quinn gains 20 point lead: poll

Let's face it.

If you're City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, the race for NYC Mayor can't get here fast enough.

Quinn who has a shot at making history not only as the first woman mayor of the Big Apple, but also as the first openly gay mayor of the city, has been receiving some good press regarding her strong support for gay marriage and legislation she's backed mandating a controversial "living wage" for employees of businesses receiving city subsidies.

Race for NYC Mayor. Bill Thompson, Christine Quinn, or Police Commissioner Ray Kelly

The other night appearing on TV, RNN, host Richard French with seconds left to go threw a question to me, a hand grenade for NYC Politics. French asked me about the race for mayor.

6,100 Teachers. Looks like Bloomberg wasn't bluffing, but will the Council stand up to him?

Historically, layoffs are often threatened as a budgetary bargaining chip.

In other words, the mayor basically yells what amounts to “fire” in a crowded theater, and more often than not, the money surfaces from the State or Washington, and the bad news is avoided. (layoffs in this case)

However this time, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is not bluffing, and for the first time since the 1970’s, public school teachers are looking at pick slips. A loss of 6,166 teachers, including an anticipated 4,100 layoffs.

NO ONE IS MAKING SURE WHAT THEY SAY IS WHAT THEY DO

New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) released their 2008-2009 NYC council scorecard and decided to not score Speaker Quinn as they have done in previous years.  In their 2006 she received a 11% score and most likely her score would have been lower if the NYLCV had scored her this year.  Everyone knows that no bill is passed without Speaker Quinn's support. We seen how Quinn Fast tracked the Mayor's bill to extend term limit without a public referendum while other bills remained dusting in committee for years.  How does the NYLCV justified not scoring Quinn and even applauding her exemplary leadership on their front page when most of these bills haven't even been voted on and not even passed????

Lowdown on Deputy Mayor Quinn's Highline

The city rewarded a no-bid 10 year contract for the friends of the High Line to get EXCLUSIVE rights to sell food and merchandise.  This city is scare for resources and King bloomberg has raises taxes and cut essential services. Yet King Bloomberg and Deputy Mayor Christine Quinn has given our public space to private friends and contributers.  Founders of the friends of High Line has endorsed Mayor Bloomberg and board members contributed over $100,000 to Deputy Mayor Christine Quinn.

This is HIGHWAY ROBBERY. If slush fund Queen Quinn and King bloomberg were serving the people then the deal would provided us-the city with a cut of the profits.  There are lines of tourists waiting on the streets to entered the new High Line park - weed-filled 1.5 mile-long stretch of abandoned elevated railroad right-of-way. This deal is worth millions of dollars stolen from the people of NYC.  Time to kick both Bloomberg and his YESGAL Quinn out.

KING BLOOMBERG AND DEPUTY MAYOR QUINN BAIL OUT DEVELOPERS

Deputy Mayor Slush Fund Queen Christine C. Quinn and king Michael R. Bloomberg today announced a $20 million commitment to fund a pilot program that will turn unsold condominiums, market-rate rental buildings and stalled construction sites into affordable housing opportunities for moderate and middle-income families.

First, that the city will overpay for the condos, making this into a developer bailout program.

And second, that too much scarce affordable housing funding will be diverted from the low-income people who need assistance most to higher-income people who can afford the subisidized condos.

New York Daily News is as Unworthy as Christine Quinn

The Daily News is a political rag sheet. The same paper that touted the mayor disregard for will of the people and overturn term limits due to the economic crisis and his business acumen.  Yet Bloomberg has yet said one word on the Benard Madoff 50 Billion scandal, the largest Ponzi scheme.

The Daily New's Adam Lisberg is at it again. His latest fluff piece was for Christine Quinn, who he refers to as a worthy opponent to Bloomberg. In this column he mentions 2 of the mayoral candidates but makes no mention of Council member Tony Avella. Tony Avella is running for Mayor of New York City.  Christine Quinn is vindictive and has payback Tony Avella for his stance against her self-serving legislation. CM Avella voted No on both bill that gave the city council a 25% raise for their part time job and extend term limits without a public referendum.

Art of War

Art of War- Quinn reschedules the bill on the horse drawn carriage for the 3rd time to sabotage it.
