NYCNYC Has Homeless "Punishment" Shelters
According to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the NYC shelter population is booming because shelters provide "more pleasurable experiences."
Cease Fire ENY is an Anti-Gun Violence Initiative That Really Works
Let’s face it. There is a segment of urban males whose behavior can only be characterized as uncivilized. They have no conflict resolution skills, cannot regulate their own behavior, and allow self-righteous anger to guide their decisions. In response to any perceived slight, these males take to the streets and start shooting. If they could shoot, these males would only hit their intended target. But since they can’t shoot, any innocent in the vicinity is at risk, including women and children.
Election 2009 Aftermath
Short, sweet, and right to the point!
26% of the vote The biggest percentage in New York County I am told that this is mind-boggling considering the parameters of my campaign. First time out. Running against an incumbent with over $330,000.00 in funds and thoroughly backed by the ‘machine.’ Only four (4) months into the game with NO GUIDANCE, NO SUPPORT, NO BACKUP, NO MONEY. I raised a total of $1,462.00 in contributions mostly from retirees and fixed income folks. I am personally down over $4,000.00. Anybody want to write a check made out to Stephen F. Kaufman? Can you imagine how I would

Checking Up on Schools
The Comptroller Reality vs. the Chancellor's Reality
CM Simcha Felder wants more PorkThe terrorist attack in Mumbai is prompting 17 City Council members to call for New York Police Department protection of private schools. Currently the NYPD has almost 5,000 safety officers deployed in the City’s public schools. Brooklyn City Councilman Simcha Felder says the current economic crisis puts hiring private guards beyond the reach of financially strapped private schools, but he says they’re vulnerable and deserve protection.Hundreds of private schools would be eligible. Carriage Horse Proposed Into Bill 653-A - the exposed truthSponsors: Stewart, Koppell, Weprin, Felder Section 1 subsection J: the stables will be inspected by a single entity designated by the commissioner....and shall be certified by the NYS health Assurance Progam Problem with subsection J: per the Comptroller Audit Report dated June 27, 2007, the commissioner failed to enact the Advisory Board, since the enactment of the statute 1980s, to recommend specific regulations necessary to promote the health, safety and well-being of the horses. As a result of the commissioner failure to establish this board since 1980s, regulations promoting the health, safety, and well-being of the carriage-horses remain broad and general in scope. Therefore, The Advisory Board and not the commissioner should designated this single entity which should be the ASCPA since the ASPCA, not the commissioner office, is authorized by State humane laws to enforce the State humane law.
'No way Jose!' Rebels look to oust Dem BossA diverse group of elected officials and supporters crammed into a Co-op City meeting hall united and in one voice stated Jose Rivera’s days as Party Boss in the Bronx will soon be over. Chanting “No way Jose,” the group wildly cheered the Rainbow Rebels in their crusade to replace Rivera. The crowd of 400+ that filled the hall in Co-op City’s Dreiser Loop Community Center expected to vote Rivera out. However, the veteran assemblyman secured a court victory claiming that the vote could not be held because the room could not hold the 2,800 voting committee members. Rebel Assembly member Aurelia Greene joked that the judge obviously was unfamiliar with Co-op City and the community center because the hall had removable walls that allow the smaller rooms to merge into a giant meeting hall, which is used during Co-op City board meetings.
